A pilot study found that eccentric squats on a 25 degree decline board reduced pain in athletes with chronic patellar tendinopathy, while the same squats on flat ground did less.

In a randomized trial, heavy slow resistance training and decline squat training both improved patellar tendinopathy at six months, while the benefit of steroid injections faded.
